This afternoon has been less about betting, and more about a rescue operation for the cash I have scattered among various US-facing bookmakers. Now that a second executive has been arrested by the good old patriotic USA, I'm more than a little nervous of having my cash at the mercy of the US government - I've decided to bail from Betbet, 5Dimes and of course the Sportingbet group.

I feel a little guilty at this - it's precisely this sort of panic that could cause an otherwise financially sound bookie to go belly-up, but there is obviously some sort of witch-hunt on stateside, and I've no intention of getting caught up in it.

On the plus side, I did find a couple of hundred quid in a Totalbet, which I had completely forgotten about.

Well, what a strange time to be hopping on the blogwagon. Late, as usual.

It's been a funny old time in the gambling world, too, what with the ongoing fallout from the ludicrous Betonsports affair threatening to kill the industry in its most lucrative market before it's had a chance to take off. On the other hand, we've got folks like Mansion giving out $1000 free bets on the NFL like they're going out of fashion.

I can't pretend to be an expert in American Football, but when I see a heads-you-win/ tails-you-don't-lose, chance like this, I find it hard to resist.

Come back next week, and I'll tell you whether it was a head or a tail!
